Causes
In western medicine, there are still cases where the cause is unclear. But study shows that kidney diseases often run in family, which can be considered to be an evidence for genetic component.
In TCM, however, Nephritis can be classified as one of the following:
1) if your facial expression is yellowish and the eyelids are swollen in the morning, then there is dampness in your liver and it's also weak. This is more common in the early stage of Nephritis. In this case, we will clear the dampness and prevent the illness from developing.
2) If your face and limbs are swollen and you are easy to catch cold, also you feel sore and pain in your waist and spine, then your qi is weak in lung and kidney. In this case, we will first tonify the qi in your body by acupuncture and herbal medicine.
3) If your facial expression is white and has bloating in your abdonimal area; you are afraid of coldness and feel tired all the time, then you have weakness in yang and too much dampness. In this case, we should tonify qi and blood to nurish yang, and clear the damness as well.
4) If you feel dry in your eyes and cannot see very well. Also you often feel irritated and have sore and pain in your limbs, then you may have weakness in yin in liver and kidney. This may come with high blood pressure. As a result, we will tonify yin and clear the heat at the same time.
